the feline's claws

Heute "Lacke in Farbe...und bunt!" mit der Farbe Violett. Ähnliches Dilemma wie beim vorletzten Blue Friday Post: Farbdefinitionen! Ähnlich wie bei Blau und Pink, besitze ich sehr viele violette und lilafarbene Lacke. Flieder und Aubergine sollten es ja schon mal nicht werden, laut Ankündigung. Ein Violett, schön in der Mitte. Doch wo fängt Violett an? Und ab wo wird es schon zu dunkel? Wann ist es Lila? Gibt's da echt einen so grossen Unterschied? Ich nahm mir also den einzigen* Lack in meiner Sammlung, der tatsächlich 'violet' im Namen hat: Vintage Violet von Barry M. Die Hersteller können sich ja nicht irren, oder? (Ja, ich schaue zum Bodyshop der seinen taupen Lack mit Gorgeous Grey benannte...)

Today it's violet for "Lacke in Farbe...und bunt!". Different story and yet, same dilemma as on Blue Friday: Colour definition! Much like blue and pink, I own a fair share of purple and violet polishes. It shouldn't be a light shade of lilac, nor should it be a reddish eggplant shade, that was written on the announcement. A nice violet in the middle. But when does a lilac become violet and when is it too dark? What makes a purple? Is there even a difference? I decided to reach for the only* polish in my stash that has the word 'violet' in its name: Vintage Violet by Barry M. The makers know their shit, amirite? (Yes, looking at you Bodyshop for naming your taupe polish Gorgeous Grey...)

Ich tue mich noch immer etwas schwer mit Barry M Lacken, ich liebe die Swatches online, die hübschen Fläschchen, die Farben und Effektlacke... Doch die Pinsel? Klar, so schlimm wie Catrice schafft es keine andere Lackmarke, aber ich habe doch etwas Mühe mit dem Pinsel von Barry M. Nicht weil er schlecht wäre, er ist schön gerade geschnitten und sonst auch völlig in Ordnung. Ich stelle mich nur etwas doof an...
Der Lack selbst könnte mit einer grosszügigen Schicht decken, doch ich habe zwei dünnere aufgetragen. Abgesehen von der Beziehung vom Pinsel zu mir, lässt sich der Lack gut auftragen und trocknet auch in einem angenehmen Zeitrahmen. Am Ende hat man ein schönes, klassisches Creme Finish auf den Nägeln.



I still have a hard time with Barry M polishes, I love the swatches online, the pretty little bottles, the colours and effects... But the brush? Sure, no one does it as bad as Catrice, but I just can't decide if Barry M's brush is for me. It's not a bad brush, don't get me wrong, it's a straight cut and perfectly fine brush. I guess I'm just being exceptionally stupid in handling it...
The polish itself could be opaque with just one generous coat, but I went with two thinner coats. Besides my personal dilemma with the brush, the formula is great and this polish goes on smoothly. Drying time was good too and you'll end up with a nice, classic creme finish on your nails.
