mint & chocolate chip flavoured kitsch

Hello Dolls,

Today's colour combination is indirectly brought to you by my nailbuddy Nina of @mymaynails on Instagram. It dates back to our first polish hunt together and the comment she made when I grabbed these two OPI polishes. My words were 'But I never really wear brown polishes, what would I do with a brown polish?' to which she simply replied 'Buuut this brown goes so well with that mint tone!' And as someone who loves coming up with lame excuses to buy polish, I was completely sold and took them home, so naturally I'm showing you a mani combining the two, since they 'go together so well'.

I went with something simple, polka dots and striping tape are always a good idea. Of course there needed to be some naked nails showing and born was the idea for this easy skittlette. (Yes, I learned a new term, boo yah!) Let me walk you through this...

Both polishes are by OPI from their Holland Collection, the mint shade is Thanks a WindMillion and the brown one is Wooden Shoe like to know?. On my thumb and pinky I'm wearing two coats of Thanks a WindMillion, the dots were made with a small dotting tool. The same was done with colours reversed on my index finger. For the two cutout nails, I used halfmoon vinyls and painted the tips with two coats, if you do both coats shortly after one another, you will still be able to remove the vinyl without having the polish dry up on you. Next I applied a layer of Seche Vite so I could use my striping tape without messing up. I freehanded the brown as good as possible (meaning without another halfmoon vinyl, of course I had the striping tape to at least create straight and crisp lines!)

Not sure, I feel there's something missing with this mani, it looks a bit incomplete... I was thinking roses would go nicely with the stripes. Oh well, maybe next time.

  1. Wow, das sieht richtig toll aus :-)
Ich wünschte ich hätte die Geduld dafür. Striping Tape macht mich meistens wahnsinnig.
    Liebe Grüße

    1. Vielen lieben Dank, Heike :)
Das ist verständlich, für Striping Tape muss ich auch "in der Stimmung" für sein.
