magical unicorn... poop.

Hi Dolls,

Today I have a little #nailfail for you.

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed my entries for this nail art challenge on there. I didn't blog about it, because time was short and most designs were just documented with a quick snap on the iPhone... Yes, I don't blog about everything I produce, but I document most of it on Instagram.

Wieso blogge ich also darüber? Keine Ahnung...

In my mind this design looked really amazing and I still think this creme polish goes so well with the glitter, but the outcome is just... meh. It might be due to my lack of sleep, bad lighting during late night painting or even both, but I was under the impression that the first coat of polish was opaque. (which is Mystic Iris by Face of Australia, btw.) In fact so opaque, I decided to ditch the second coat and head straight for the glitter. Good thing I at least remembered to apply some craft glue around my cuticle before sponging on the glitter gradient for easier clean-up.
Finally, I headed for the bathroom to remove any glue and glitter residue, that's where it hit me: The polish was anything but opaque! The streaks are even more noticeable in daylight...
But it doesn't end here, I ended up scrubbing my fingers so much it dried out my cuticles and I woke up being anything but happy with my nails... So why am I even blogging about this? I don't know, perhaps because I really liked the colour and glitter combination and sometimes it's no shame to admit your failure.

This post's title was brought to you by the glitter topper, which goes by the name Magical Unicorn (yes, I bought it solely because of that...) Not sure if it's still for sale, but if you fancy it, please pay a visit to your local Claire's.
