review: opi - infinite shine system

(English below the cut)

I received a set of base and top coat plus three colours. There's 30 colours in OPI's new Infinite Shine line, which promises a glossy, gel-like manicure without the hassle of an actual gel manicure and claims to last up to 10 days. I tested the system to see how long the polish would last with my daily routines, but before we talk about that, lets indulge in the 3 pretty shades.

OPI suggests to apply the base coat, then a thin coat of polish and a second one, once the first has dried to touch. After waiting at least two minutes, apply the top coat and you're good to go. I also capped my tips, as suggested by OPI. I followed this routine for all swatches and also for my test mani.

In Pursuit of Purple

A very pretty lilac Creme and probably my favourite of the 3, don't ask me why I didn't wear this one for the test... Major brain fart, I guess.

No stopping me now

Vibrant, coral red Creme polish. I wanted to wear this one for the 10-day test at first, but then felt I might get sick of this colour after a couple of days (hey, don't blame me, I change my colours like I change my underwear!) but I think this would look lovely on the toes and that's where I'm going to wear it next.

You can count on it

A nudeish old rose colour with a creme finish. I picked this shade to put to the test and got lots of compliments for it, although I personally thought the colour looked terrible on me. I got used it slowly and I think it would look great with a tan.

Application was smooth and all polishes (including the base and top coats) dried pretty fast. The only thing I didn't really like was the top coat, it would losen and drag the colour as you paint, even with the lightest touch, so there would be some colour on the brush after application. This wasn't an issue, but it did leave some fine streaks and I imagine this wouldn't do well with nail art.

Dun dun duuun... The aftermath! / Das Testergebnis

Sorry (not sorry), but I didn't go for 10 days straight. I mean, COME ON! I change my polish every other day, the longest I've gone with a colour is 3 days, do you see the efforts I bring for this? FOR SCIENCE! Anyway. This are my nails after 6 days. The tiny chip on my pointer finger is due to a playful rat bite (they love nibbling on polish it seems...) Otherwise it's still flawless, except for very, very, VERY minor tip wear.

You need a macro to even see the tipwear, it's that minor..!

My opinion on this system is positive, I'm sure the polish could have lasted up to 10 days as OPI promised. If you're someone who doesn't change their polish that often and keeps it for a week, this product is definitely for you! The price is a little high, but I personally think you get your money's worth.
